On September 15, 1997 was the official start of classes of Salngan Primary School, the grade one pupils of Mayabon ElementarY School who were residents of Sitio Salngan were pulled out. They eventually became the first batch of the Grade I who formed part of the first batch of graduates of Salngan Elementary School.
There was no building yet during that time so these pupils were housed in the Pentecostal chapel through the permit of the lot owner, MARCELO G. ADANZA, who was then the incumbent Municipal Mayor.
On the following year, with two grade levels already and with a number more or less doubled, the pupils were moved and roomed in one of the classroom buildings of Jose Marie Locsin Memorial High School. They were qualified “squatters” so to speak. This situation holds free and was experienced, quite inconveniently for two school years more or less until such time that the local Government Unit of Zamboanguita allocated funds and a portion of its lot at Salngan for the construction of Salngan Primary School. Inconvenience shall one depicts because of non-permanent classrooms with teachers holding multi-grade levels.
All these encumbrances were dragged down on the School Year 2002-2003 when this school became a complete elementary school, now SALNGAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. The success of the school however, is constantly challenged by the needs of time. Optimistically all these challenges will be surmounted through the united efforts of teachers, the community and of course the local government unit.
